Sundari advertises this product as a moisturizer rich in herbal ingredients, which nourish and balance the face. They created the product for normal and combination skin types, claiming that it will restore moisture to dry areas while controlling oil production in problem spots. The company touts ingredients such as elderflower, ginseng, chamomile, and jojoba as having extra benefits for the skin: antibacterial and astringent properties, cell regrowth, deep cleansing, and hydrating. Sundari states the moisturizer is ideal under makeup. In reality, this lotion does only some of these things and is not worth the price tag.
There are numerous benefits to using this moisturizer. It goes on smoothly and blends in easily. Only a small amount is needed to nourish the skin. For someone with dry areas, the elderflower moisturizer does an excellent job at banishing them. In oily spots, the ingredients do not cause breakouts for those with occasional acne. This is an especially effective product for those who live in drier climates and need to counteract negative effects on the skin. As the company claims, the moisturizer works well under makeup.
Sundari, however, promises more than this product gives. While the moisturizer does not cause breakouts, the face tends to become shiny and slightly greasy after hours of wear. It does not appear to have antibacterial or astringent properties. Users with occasional and minor acne looking to decrease facial bacteria need a different product. Though it does moisturize the face, it does not cause obvious regrowth of healthy skin cells. A facial scrub is better for removing dead skin cells and exposing new ones.
Overall, while this moisturizer is effective in hydrating the face, it does not have any added benefits that are worth the higher price. The consumer can get something just as good for less.
