Reversing Sun Damage

If you were given a chance to make one wish what would it be? I bet most of the ladies will wish that they be made young again. Because if they do go back to their young selves, they would know better that to hang out at the beach without using sun block. They would constantly use sunscreen as a second skin and make pale skin the in thing. Unfortunately, this is all wishful thinking. But, sun damage can still be reversed provided that the damage isn't too severe.

However there are some things you can do to reverse sun damage.

Antioxidants help combat the free radicals found in the skin. Increase intake of food products with antioxidants like fruits and vegetables. Spices and herbs also contain natural antioxidants so make sure to incorporate them in your cooking. You can also take nutritional supplements that contain antioxidants. Also add topical antioxidants on your face. Cosmeceuticals like alphalipoic acid and DMAE are believed to be collagen and elastin builders although this still needs to be proven.

Stimulation of the skin by lymphatic massage or daily splashing adds moisture to the skin and has some healing properties. Use warm water to splash your skin two times a day before applying a toner. Ingest a regular dose of essential fatty acids everyday, either via supplements or fish oil. You can also use a vitamin based cosmeceutical on the face. This may contain vitamins A, C and E, including selenium and CoQ-10.

Microdermabrasion or laser resurfacing stimulates collagen production. A face lift eliminates sagging. Use retin a for collagen nutrition and elastin for skin suppleness. Both substances can reverse sun damage. There are also some pigmentation that can be reversed.

When attempting treatment, protect yourself from the ultraviolet rays of the sun by using protective clothing, and avoid sun exposure by wearing hats and sunscreen daily since your skin will be very sensitive to the sun during treatment.
