Photorejuvenation Systems
Also known as Foto-Facial Rejuvenation with Intense Pulsed Light ( IPL ), this procedure is noninvasive and can correct skin concerns such as pigmentation, age spots, very fine lines, sun damage, and can improve skin texture. But that's not all. It can reduce the appearance of rosacea, spider veins, birthmarks, and sun damage, plus help heal acne. After the procedure, your skin will feel smoother and look more evenly toned.
There's no anticipated downtime following a photorejuvenation treatment, but you could experience redness and irritation for several hours. Don't plan a big event for a couple of days following your treatment. Some people can apply some makeup immediately following a treatment and return to work. The results appear gradually, so you'll most likely require about five treatments in all. Each treatment takes about 30 to 45 minutes. The machine is passed over the skin and the procedure takes about an hour. Your skin shouldn't hurt, but it could tingle.
The treatment is safe, but limit your sun exposure afterward. In fact, you should always limit sun exposure and be sure to wear a sunscreen.
Photorejuvenation doesn't work to eliminate or lessen acne scars. If that is your primary concern, you should consider laser resurfacing.
