Mary Kay Medium-Coverage Foundation is designed for a wide range of skin tones and those with normal to oily skin. The company claims that it is lightweight, helps control excess oil for eight hours, blends smoothly with the skin, and evens out skin tone. While this product meets some of these claims, the foundation lacks in other areas.
Amongst the positive qualities of the Medium-Coverage Foundation is the range of available colors. 20 various shades of ivory, beige, and bronze are available and bound to suit any skin tone. A Mary Kay consultant gives each customer a personal makeup consultation, ensuring that the buyer receives the correct foundation shade. As the company claims, this product is best for normal to oily skin, as the formula does not blend well with dry types. In addition, the foundation evens out skin tone very effectively. For those with redness, blotchiness, or light and superficial scarring, the foundation hides such imperfections while still appearing natural.
One of the significant downsides of this product is its poor blendability. The texture of the Medium-Coverage Foundation is somewhat thick and creamy, which also makes it difficult to blend across the face. The product would be quicker and easier to use if it were more liquid in consistency. In addition to the poor blendability, this foundation will "stick" to areas of the face that are even slightly dry. When this occurs, the product is easily seen on the surface of the skin. Because of this, it is vital to moisturize all areas of the face soon before applying the foundation. Last, the product does not provide eight-hour oil control. In just a few hours, oil can be seen on the skin surface and powder application is necessary.
Although this foundation is available in many shades and evens out skin tone, its poor blendability and oil control are significant downsides. Because of these two negatives, this product is not a worthwhile buy.
