Ingredients to Avoid

Nowadays, each ingredient that is utilized into making products for enhancement and maintenance of the skin goes through a rigid and thorough process of testing for any harmful effects so as to not endanger the skin or even the life of the user. And still, amidst all these tests, an ingredient finds its way to contaminating the end product. Do not use expired products. They can be very harmful to your skin. If ever you feel that an inflammation, redness or irritation on the treated area, discontinue the use of the product at once. You may be allergic to an ingredient of the product.

Make time to scrutinize the package insert completely to check if there are substances present that may cause an allergic reaction when applied to your skin. Make sure to avoid products that contain them. If you inadvertently buy one, most stores do refund.

There are also ingredients that can clog your pores and make blackheads and whiteheads to appear. Examples of these comedogenic ingredients are isopropyl myrastate and cocoa butter, which is a main ingredient in hand cream. Lipsticks use comedogenic materials so avoid using them on areas aside from the lips.

You may want to avoid any product that is fragranced if you are sensitive to perfumes. The same applies to dyes. If any ingredient causes an adverse reaction to arise, the best way to deal with it is to avoid it altogether or run the risk of getting sick. But, overall, just use common sense. If a product doesn't work for you or causes a bad reaction, don't use it.
