Caudalie, a high-end Parisian skincare company, sells Contour Cream for Eyes and Lips to target specific skin ailments. The company claims that it reduces wrinkles in both areas and lightens dark circles under the eyes. The cream is also supposed to "decongest" the skin and protect it from damaging free radicals. Caudalie touts the effectiveness of the product's natural ingredients, such as witch hazel, licorice, fern, and horse chestnut. In reality, however, this pricey product is an effective moisturizer and not much more.
Among the product's positives are that it is a highly effective moisturizer. Just a small amount of the cream provides intense moisture for dry eye and lip areas. Particularly in winter and in dry climates, parched skin drinks up the hydrating benefits of the cream. The moisture lasts throughout the day and there is no need to reapply. Caudalie's natural ingredients are light on the skin and do not leave it feeling greasy. The cream has a lotion-like consistency and is very pleasant on sensitive eye and lip areas.
The benefits, however, end there. This user bought the product because of her significant under eye circles and, after using this cream, did not see any improvement. There was also no decrease in fine lines around the eyes and mouth. Caudalie's decongestant claim seems to be a fancy word to make the product sound unrealistically promising. Although a user can't see free radicals, of course, the product doesn't appear to protect the face from anything except dryness. Overall, Caudalie's Contour Cream is a high-priced version of a standard eye and lip moisturizer. Customers may think the French name makes this a better product, but don't be fooled. Something just as good can be bought for less money.
