Rubber gloves
Plastic bag large enough to fit over hair and scalp
1/3 cup (75 ml) dried indigo
1/3 cup (75 ml) dried lavender
1/3 cup (75 ml) dried black malva flowers
1/3 cup (75 ml) boiling water
To Make
1: Powder the dry herbs in a spice mill.
2: Sift the powdered herbs into a glass or a porcelain bowl.
Never use anything metal with henna, it will affect the color.
3: Pour boiling water over the powdered herbs in the bowl.
4: Form a thick paste by mixing the ingredients together.
To Use
1: Use your regular shampoo and rinse your hair.
2: Use rubber gloves while applying the henna to your hair with a plastic or wooden spoon. Try to avoid applying the henna to your scalp.
3: After the Henna covers the hair, massage the henna mixture to the hair ends.
4: Cover the hair with the plastic bag on top. Secure it with a hair clip or a cloth clip.
5: Remove the henna that might have inadvertently slipped onto your face or stuck to your hand or clothing.
6: Let the mixture set for 30 to 60 minutes.
7: Use warm water to rinse your hair thoroughly until the water runs clear.
8: Follow this up with a regular shampoo. Rinse well with cool water.
This makes 1 treatment.
