Summer may be the time to bare legs, but shaving stinks! My skin is extremely sensitive, and my old shaving technique involved using a Venus razor and Skinintimate Shaving Gel. The only way I could prevent razor burn and other irritation was to then smother my legs in an expensive Mary Kay lotion immediately after showering. I was surprised to find an affordable alternative in Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel.
Aveeno's Therapeutic Shave Gel is part of their Active Naturals line. The shaving gel lacks any type of fragrance and any substance to clog pores. The smoothing ingredient is colloidal oatmeal-- oats ground into fine powder. I followed the instructions to only shave every other day, and using Aveeno Therapeutic Shave Gel I was able to completely skip lotion after shaving without any skin irritation.
The shave gel also excels in providing a hydrating lather. Only a small dab covered an entire leg in enough shaving gel. The lather doesn't get as bubbly as others, but it still works well as a lubricant for the razor.
